About LOONA

LOONA, also known by the Korean name Yidal-ui Sonyeo ("Girl of the Month"), were a South Korean girl group created by Blockberry Creative. The project launched in October 2016 with an unusually long pre-debut rollout that introduced one member at a time over roughly eighteen months, each with her own single and sub-unit. The full twelve-member group debuted on August 19, 2018 with the EP "[+ +]" and its title track "Hi High." The lineup comprised HeeJin, HyunJin, HaSeul, YeoJin, ViVi, Kim Lip, JinSoul, Choerry, Yves, Chuu, Go Won, and Olivia Hye, organized across three sub-units. LOONA developed an elaborate interconnected concept and lore that earned a devoted global fanbase, and singles such as "Butterfly," "So What," and "PTT (Paint the Town)" expanded their international reach. The group is remembered as one of the more conceptually ambitious third-generation acts, with members later pursuing solo and new-group ventures. Their intricate storytelling, organized around themes of the moon and identity, set them apart in an era of more straightforward girl-group concepts. LOONA's devoted online fanbase, known as Orbits, became known for closely tracking the group's lore and visual symbolism.
