About Seulgi

Seulgi is a South Korean singer and dancer under SM Entertainment, best known as a member of Red Velvet, with which she debuted in 2014. Within the group she is recognized for her vocals and as a lead dancer. She made her solo debut on October 4, 2022 with the EP "28 Reasons," a six-track release built around a concept exploring the coexistence of good and evil within a person. The lead single of the same name is a groovy dance-pop track, and the EP included "Dead Man Runnin'," which marked her songwriting debut. The project earned strong critical reviews for its dark, R&B and dance-inflected pop. Outside of her solo work, Seulgi has appeared in SM's GOT the Beat project alongside other label artists, performing in a supergroup format that drew together vocalists across the company's roster. Critics responded positively to the cohesion and atmosphere of "28 Reasons," which leaned into darker, R&B and dance-inflected pop. As a third-generation idol, her solo material gave her an individual artistic lane distinct from Red Velvet's signature dual "red" and "velvet" concepts, foregrounding her strengths as a vocalist and performer.
