About RM

RM, whose given name is Kim Nam-joon, is a South Korean rapper and the leader of BTS, with whom he debuted in 2013. As the group's main songwriter and spokesperson, he is credited on much of BTS's catalog and is known for introspective, literate lyricism. He released the mixtapes "RM" (2015) and "mono" (2018) before his first official studio album, "Indigo," in 2022, a reflective record built around collaborations with a wide range of artists. His second album, "Right Place, Wrong Person" (2024), took a more experimental, alternative direction and was named among the year's best releases by several major publications. RM is also widely known for his interest in art and his role representing BTS in public and diplomatic settings. Like his groupmates, he paused activity for mandatory military service. He is regarded as one of the most respected lyricists and soloists of K-pop's third generation.
