NU'EST is a South Korean boy group formed by Pledis Entertainment, debuting in March 2012. The five-member group drew early notice for its sharp performances and the song "Face," but struggled commercially in its first years. Their fortunes changed dramatically in 2017, when four members competed on the survival show Produce 101, reintroducing the group to a national audience, while member Minhyun joined the project group Wanna One. During this period the others promoted as the subunit NU'EST W. The reunited group then enjoyed its most successful era, with releases such as "Dejavu," "Where You At," and "Love Me." NU'EST disbanded in 2022 after their contracts concluded, with members continuing as soloists and actors. Their fandom was named LOVE. The group is frequently cited as one of K-pop's great second-chance stories, an example of how the survival-show format reshaped careers in the third generation.
