About XG

XG (stylized in all caps; interpreted as "Xtraordinary Genes") is a Japanese girl group formed by the label XGALX, a subsidiary of Avex. The group consists of seven members: Jurin, Chisa, Hinata, Harvey, Juria, Maya, and Cocona. After training in Japan and South Korea, they debuted on March 18, 2022, with the single "Tippy Toes." XG performs primarily in English and describes its sound with the self-coined term "X-pop," drawing on hip hop, R&B, and electronic styles rather than committing to a single genre. Following early singles including "Mascara" and "Shooting Star," the group released its first EP, New DNA, in 2023, and a second EP, Awe, in 2024. Their debut studio album, The Core, arrived in 2026. XG has undertaken international touring and appeared at overseas festivals, and its performances feature both vocal and rap lines distributed across the lineup. The group is presented as a globally oriented act aimed at markets beyond Japan.
