Taeyong, whose given name is Lee Tae-yong, is a South Korean rapper, singer, and songwriter, and the leader of the boy group NCT and its sub-units, with whom he debuted in 2016. Known for his rapping, dance, and a strong creative hand in NCT's output, he became the first member of NCT to release solo music. His 2023 debut EP "Shalala" topped iTunes album charts in dozens of countries and set sales marks for an SM Entertainment soloist, and he followed it in 2024 with the fully self-co-written EP "Tap." Taeyong's solo work showcases an experimental, hip-hop-rooted style distinct from his group releases. Within NCT he has been a central figure across the project's various units since its launch. He is regarded as one of the notable soloists and group leaders of K-pop's third generation.
