SISTAR were a South Korean girl group formed by Starship Entertainment, debuting on June 3, 2010 with the single "Push Push." The group consisted of Hyolyn, Bora, Soyou, and Dasom. SISTAR became one of the defining girl groups of K-pop's second generation, known for confident, summer-oriented dance-pop and strong vocal performances. They released a string of seasonal hits including "Alone," "Loving U," "Touch My Body," "Shake It," and "I Like That," many of which topped Korean charts and reinforced the group's reputation as reliable summer chart-toppers. A sub-unit, SISTAR19 (Hyolyn and Bora), released its own singles such as "Ma Boy" and "Gone Not Around Any Longer." On May 31, 2017 SISTAR released their farewell single "Lonely" and disbanded shortly after, with members continuing as soloists and in other fields, Hyolyn most prominently as a solo singer. Across their run the group built a reputation for energetic live performances and chart consistency, with several of their summer singles reaching number one in Korea. SISTAR remain remembered as a benchmark for the bright, body-positive girl-group sound of their era and as one of Starship Entertainment's foundational acts.
