Roy Kim, born Kim Sang-woo in 1993, is a South Korean singer-songwriter known for acoustic ballads and folk-influenced pop. He began his career after winning the fourth season of the televised competition Superstar K in 2012, and released his debut studio album Love Love Love in 2013, whose single "Bom Bom Bom" became a major hit and earned him Best New Artist honors at several major Korean music awards. Writing much of his own material and frequently performing with an acoustic guitar, he built a catalogue of gentle, melody-driven songs and became one of his generation's better-known singer-songwriters, balancing his music with undergraduate studies at Georgetown University in the United States. He recorded for years through CJ E&M and its Stone Music Entertainment division and later WakeOne, before parting ways with WakeOne in 2025 after twelve years and signing with the agency DEUL. He continues to release music and perform, including headline concert dates in Seoul.
