JO1 (stylized in all caps) is a Japanese boy group formed through the first season of the survival competition Produce 101 Japan and managed by LAPONE Entertainment. Originally launched as an eleven-member group, JO1 debuted on March 4, 2020, with the single "Protostar." The group works within a hybrid of J-pop and K-pop, combining synchronized dance performance with vocal and rap lines, and has built its catalogue around a run of singles, EPs, and studio albums including The Star, Kizuna, and Equinox. Over time the group expanded its activities beyond Japan into wider Asian touring. Its membership was reduced to nine after Shion Tsurubo departed at the end of 2025 and Shosei Ohira left in 2026; the current lineup is Takumi Kawanishi, Ren Kawashiri, Syoya Kimata, Sukai Kinjo, Junki Kono, Issei Mamehara, Keigo Sato, Ruki Shiroiwa, and Sho Yonashiro. JO1 is one of several idol groups produced through the Japanese edition of the Produce 101 franchise.
