About JAY B

JAY B, whose given name is Im Jae-beom, is a South Korean singer, songwriter, and producer who debuted in 2014 as the leader of the boy group GOT7. He had earlier debuted in 2012 in the duo JJ Project, and with GOT7 he anchored one of JYP Entertainment's flagship third-generation groups, known for hits such as "Just Right," "Hard Carry," and "Lullaby" and for an athletic, b-boying-influenced performance style. Outside the group he long pursued R&B and soul-leaning solo music, at first under the alias Def., and made his official solo debut as JAY B in 2021 with the mini album "SOMO:FUME." His solo catalog leans on smooth vocals and atmospheric, groove-based production that gives it a distinct identity from GOT7's brighter pop sound. As GOT7's leader and a soloist in his own right, JAY B is regarded as one of the more distinctive R&B voices among the third generation of K-pop idols.
