About Hwasa

Hwasa, whose given name is Ahn Hye-jin, is a South Korean singer and rapper who rose to prominence as a member of the girl group Mamamoo, with whom she debuted in 2014. Known for a bold, soulful vocal style and a confident stage presence, she became one of the most recognizable solo voices of her generation. She made her solo debut in 2019 with the single "Twit," which topped South Korea's Circle Digital Chart, and followed it with the 2020 EP "María," whose title track became a major hit and earned year-end awards. In 2023 she left her longtime agency RBW and signed with P Nation, the label founded by Psy, continuing her solo output with singles such as "I Love My Body." Hwasa is also widely known as a television personality and style figure in South Korea. She is regarded as one of the most distinctive soloists of K-pop's third generation.
