GFriend were a South Korean girl group formed by Source Music, debuting on January 16, 2015 with the EP "Season of Glass" and its lead single "Glass Bead." The six members were Sowon, Yerin, Eunha, Yuju, SinB, and Umji. The group built its early identity around a school-uniform, powerful-synchronization concept, with the 2015 single "Me Gustas Tu" becoming a breakout hit after a fan video of the members performing on a slippery stage went viral. Their high-school trilogy concluded with "Rough," which topped Korean charts and won several music-program awards. Over their career, GFriend evolved toward more mature and cinematic concepts on releases such as "Time for the Moon Night," "Sunny Summer," and the "回" trilogy. They became one of the defining second-wave third-generation girl groups before parting ways with Source Music; the group disbanded in May 2021. Members later continued in solo work and, for some, the group Viviz.
